Seed swapping

REQUIRES – Seed swaps normally take place in Spring or Autumn so you’ll need to make a diary note. Visit the Soil Association’s seed swap finder here and here is a link to an online seed swap

HOW TO – Read about seed collecting so you’ve got some seeds to swap! However most seeds swaps are friendly for novice gardeners who don’t have much to swap, so go for it!

CONSIDERATIONS – The age and provenance of seeds will be important to some growers. If you collect seeds to swap perhaps you could keep a note of where and when the seed was harvested?

HOW DOES IT HELP – Seed swapping is a great way to diversify your yard or garden without spending loads of money at a garden centre!

BONUS REWARD- It’s a great opportunity to meet other people interested in gardening and nature, gardeners are a friendly bunch ready to share ideas, tips and advice!

FURTHER INFO – If you live in Brighton then you might be interested in this massive seed swap – Seedy Sunday – or you might just like to read their website for more information
